Germany and other European Union countries present at Blue Economy Rio / Green Rio Tech

The German-Brazilian Initiative for Cooperation in Agribusiness and Innovation brought together different institutions and representatives from Brazilian and German governments in Berlin, Germany. Through the mobilization of ABAG (Brazilian Agribusiness Association), we had the opportunity to discuss bioeconomy and the blue economy, presenting Green Rio Tech and Blue Economy Rio.

The opening was conducted by Augusto Billi, MAPA – Secretariat of International Relations, and Secretary Klaus Heider, BMLEH – Germany. Some highlighted themes included foreign trade, energy transition, training and rural youth, digitalization, and the blue bioeconomy. These topics will be discussed at AXIA Marina da Glória, Rio de Janeiro, on October 29th and 30th. German representatives and companies were also invited to participate in Rio de Janeiro.

The 2026 Annual Meeting of the Brazil-Germany Initiative for Cooperation in Agribusiness and Innovation is organized and attended by Abag, BDI, CNI, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity – Germany, the Latin America Committee of German Business, and the Brazilian Federal Government. This year it was held at Bayer’s headquarters in Berlin.

The bioeconomy and the blue economy took center stage in discussions at the Annual Meeting of the Brazil-Germany Initiative for Cooperation in Agribusiness and Innovation, held in Berlin, where we participated alongside ABAG. Meanwhile, at Hannover Messe—the world’s largest industrial trade fair, where Brazil was the featured partner country—the connection to these themes was highlighted through technologies focused on water usage, resource efficiency, biotechnology, and decarbonization. This engagement in Germany helped strengthen strategic ties and provided an opportunity to invite representatives to continue these discussions in Brazil.

Strategic solutions and discussions are now converging on the Green Rio Tech & Blue Economy Rio Summit 2026. Scheduled for October 29 and 30 at AXIA Marina da Glória in Rio de Janeiro, the event will serve as a hub for building upon the contacts established in Europe and showcasing key innovations for the sector.
