Blue Economy Rio Summit / Green Rio promoted at UN Ocean Conference in France |
Green Rio participated in the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC), held in Nice from June 9 to 13, 2025, promoting Green Rio and Blue Economy Rio Summit 2025, together with representatives of governments, international institutions and scientific cooperation networks focused on the blue bioeconomy.
A delegation from the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainability of the State of Rio de Janeiro (SEAS) was present with presentations, establishing partnerships and following discussions.
UNOC brought together 175 countries, more than 60 heads of state and 12 thousand delegates, resulting in the “Nice Commitments for the Ocean” – a new global framework for the health of marine ecosystems and the implementation of SDG 14 of the 2030 Agenda. The Brazilian government debated in panels on blue innovation, ocean culture, marine observation and protection of coral reefs.
