FDC and Green Rio\/Green Latin America sign an agreement that provides for promotion and international training actions on Bioeconomy.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Dom Cabral (FDC) and Green Rio established a partnership to organize and carry out scientific and educational seminars, in addition to FDC’s participation in the Green Rio event, which takes place from August 31 to September 2 in the city of Rio de Janeiro.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The agreement allows FDC to host online events promoted by both signatories of this agreement. During Green Rio\/Green Latin America 2023, a series of international seminars entitled \u201cCen\u00e1rios do Sul Global\/Global South Scenarios\u201d will be launched, promoted by Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Dom Cabral, in partnership with Green Latin America. The panel with the presence of FDC at the Green Rio event, held at Marina da Gl\u00f3ria in Rio de Janeiro, will have the theme \u201cWhy is Global South a strategic theme for the planet?\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe partnership with Green Rio\/Green Latin America will allow us to get closer to companies, governments and international organizations involved in the Bioeconomy and contribute to dialogues and training\u201d, comments the Director of Global Strategy and International Relations at FDC, Viviane Barreto.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are happy to find in this partnership with FDC, in addition to a synergy of values, the possibility of promoting strategic themes of sustainable development for different audiences: from Small and Medium Enterprises to regional arrangements and international cooperation\u201d said Maria Beatriz Bley Costa, Coordinator of Green-Rio\/Green Latin America.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event consists of conferences with an arena and thematic rooms, with more than 90 lectures. In 2022, there were 93 exhibitors and 23 startups and more than 150 business meetings. This year, initiatives from Austria and France will be present, in addition to the AL Invest Verde program from the European Union.<\/span><\/p>\n

About Green Rio\/Green Latin America<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2012, when its first edition was recognized as a side-event at Rio+20, the Green Rio\/Green Latin America event has been establishing itself as a platform for the Green Economy and Bioeconomy. 2015 \u201cGREEN RIO \/ RIO ORG\u00c2NICO\u201d EVENT EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS, WITH OVER A THOUSAND PARTICIPANTS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

With over a thousand people enrolled, the fourth edition of \u201cGreen Rio \/ Rio Org\u00e2nico\u201d exceeds expectations and reinforces the position of this event as a business platform for organic and sustainable products. The event, organized by Planeta Org\u00e2nico, took place on May 20 and 21 at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Gardens, and was sponsored by SEBRAE, the Confedera\u00e7\u00e3o Nacional do Com\u00e9rcio (National Trade Confederation) , Itaipu Binacional and Banco do Brasil.<\/span><\/p>

During the opening ceremony, the Rio de Janeiro Healthy School Meal Award was launched. The Mayors of Tr\u00eas Rios, Para\u00edba do Sul and Itaperuna and the Environment Secretary for Pinheiral signed the commitment to the project, which has the support of SEBRAE. Planeta Org\u00e2nico invited Danish researcher Bent Mikkelsen, of Aalborg University, to talk about the school food topic. Representatives of Education Secretariats, of SENAI\/FIRJAN and of SEBRAE also took part in the panel on the subject of school meals.<\/span><\/p>

Novelties among Exhibitors<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Companies bring their novelties, presenting cosmetics from the Amazon region, sustainable pirarucu (a freshwater fish), fruit and honey from the South and the Northeast, cereals, Portuguese olive oil, agave sweetener, family farm products, handicrafts and other products of the State of Rio de Janeiro.<\/span><\/p>

Fazenda Tamandu\u00e1, from the State of Para\u00edba, brought organic spirulina, which reduces cholesterol, enhances the immune system and benefits the intestinal flora. The entrepreneur Pierre Landolt, the person who was inspired to produce it, hopes to include the product, for example, in school meals. Another novelty at the event was the freshwater fish pirarucu and pintado from the company Mar&Terra, which raises fish by the aquiculture method in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul.<\/span><\/p>

Monama, from S\u00e3o Paulo, presented its range of organic products, such as cereals, peanut butter, flours and other lactose and gluten-free products.\u00a0 Family farm products were also present, thanks to the Agrarian Development Ministry\u2019s office in Rio de Janeiro.<\/span><\/p>

The Amazon Forest-Based Cosmetics Project presented products from seven states: Acre, Amap\u00e1, Amazonas, Par\u00e1, Roraima, Rond\u00f4nia and Tocantins. They range from shampoos, toilet soaps, vegetable sponges and essences to perfumes and ingredients for the cosmetics industry. The project is supported by SEBRAE and has been increasing its presence in the Rio de Janeiro market. Itaipu Binacional took part once again, presenting its socio-environmental program Cultivando \u00c1gua Boa (Cultivating Good Water), as well as organic products and handicrafts made by the Indians in its region.<\/span><\/p>

Presentations during the Conference<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

In order to address the topic of school meals, Bent Mikkelsen presented his research on local purchases as a challenge to the global food chains, and also addressed the issue of children and young people\u2019s relationship with nature in a world that is increasingly globalized and technological.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In addition to the school meal theme, which was given special emphasis in the event, other issues received attention at Green Rio 2015. In the Research, Innovation and Market panel, Reginaldo Morikawa, Director-Superintendent of Korin Agropecu\u00e1ria, presented data showing that the organic product market alone has advanced at average rates over 20% a year in Brazil, reaching about R$ 2.5 billion in 2014 and with prospects of reaching R$ 10 billion in 2020. In global terms, it has a turnover above US$ 70 billion. In the same panel, entrepreneur Maria Fernanda Rizzo talked about her experience in founding Emp\u00f3rio Papinha, a chain of stores that sell organic baby food, which sold R$ 1.1 million in 2014.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Business Rounds<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Green Rio held international business rounds with buyers from Peru, Colombia, Denmark and Estonia. The meetings were organized by the Brazilian Association of Food and Beverage Exporters and Importers (Abba), within APEX Brasil\u2019s \u201cBrazilian Flavors\u201d project. Abba\u2019s executive president, Raquel de Almeida Salgado, pointed out that conquering the international market is possible, but requires great commitment on the part of companies. In addition to the international rounds, there were meetings organized by Planeta Org\u00e2nico, with buyers from restaurant and supermarket chains, focusing on the domestic market.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
