How the Entrance of Global Food Industries Will Impact Brazil’s Organic Food Chain Will be Debated During Green Rio 2018

Consumer’s demand for sustainably produced, transparently labeled and healthy organic products is attracting major food industries. Brazil’s organic producers are mostly smallholder family farmers serving the local market. The debate will focus on how these producers will cope with the challenge: designing more effective strategies, what kinds of partnerships are possible, should they integrate vertically?  Representatives of producer’s associations, public sector and global food industries will be debating this issue during Green Rio.
